Kerry joined J&P in March 2024 and works as a Consultant Solicitor in the Housing Management Department.

Experience

Kerry is a Consultant Solicitor in the Legal 500 listed Housing Management team. She is also a board member of a housing association and a Prince2 qualified Project Manager.

Kerry’s legal expertise includes advising of all types of housing management matters such as possessions, injunctions, tenancy fraud, non-occupation, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, nuisance, mental health and capacity, discrimination, trespassers, policy drafting and advice.

Kerry has worked as in-house counsel for two registered providers as well as working in private practice.

Highlights

Obtained the first UK custodial sentence for breaches of an Injunction issued under the Coronavirus Act 2020.
Successful recovery of a property associated with a drugs ring responsible for trafficking hundreds of kilos of cannabis and crack cocaine through Gatwick airport. This included successfully defending a discrimination counterclaim brought under the Equality Act 2010.
Obtained a without notice injunction, exclusion order and possession order against a tenant who threatened neighbours with a machete.
Obtained a without notice injunction and exclusion order to regain possession of a property where the tenant with schizophrenia had been ‘cuckooed’.
Successful recovery of numerous sublet properties including substantial unlawful profit orders.
Successful recovery of a commercial office, taken over by trespassers during Covid.

As a project manager, Kerry’s highlights include:-

Working on a large Registered Provider merger to provide services to 104K homes
Successful delivery of a satisfactory PwC data audit for a large Registered Provider
Successful setting up an Ofsted-registered training academy for a large Registered Provider
Creating mobilisation plans for two Registered Provider stock acquisitions (circa 50 million)
