Judge & Priestley solicitors raise in excess of £5,000 for Will Aid
Bromley based law firm, Judge & Priestley would like to thank their clients who came to them to draw up Wills under the Will Aid scheme during November and who donated so generously, instead of paying the usual fee.
In total, Judge & Priestley and these Will Aid clients have raised in excess of £5,000.
The money raised goes straight to Will Aid and is shared by the nine partner charities which include British Red Cross, NSPCC and Sightsavers and is used to help people across the world and here in the UK. In 2011, the total amount raised from all participating firms was £2.2 million and the signs are that 2012 will be just as successful.
For example, in 2012, the British Red Cross reached 1.1million people in crisis across the UK. Older or vulnerable people struggling to get around were supplied with wheelchairs, mobility aids and walking frames through the medical equipment service and volunteers provided care in the home to some of the country’s most vulnerable people. Meanwhile, emergency response teams helped families affected by house fires and flooding and the Red Cross trained nearly 400,000 people in essential life-saving first aid skills. British Red Cross’ priority in 2013 is to increase the number of people helped here in the UK.
David Chandra, Partner specialising in Wills and probate said:
"We are delighted to have raised such a sum to support the vital work of the nine Will Aid charities and to have used our skills and expertise to help people in the community protect their assets.
We were inundated with enquiries from local residents who were interested in seeking professional expertise when making their Will. Making a Will is often perceived to be a time-consuming and expensive process but in fact, with the proper advice, is usually quite straightforward and delivers great peace of mind.
The beauty of the Will Aid scheme is that it offers people the chance to draw up their Will for a donation to charity rather than having to pay the solicitor a fee. This offer really does motivate people to finally get on and make that Will.
Helping clients write a Will can be an extremely worthwhile experience as it involves listening and advising to ensure the best possible outcome for the individual and their loved ones.”
